  About Construction
Most of our customers assemble their Lillevilla cabins themselves - with the help of a friend or neighbour it is a relatively simple process.
All cabins in the range are designed for self build with doors and windows in easy to install cassette units.
We do not erect cabins but do have a list of experienced fitters who are happy to quote for installation.

  About Planning Permission
Planning permission is not normally required for our smaller cabins providing it is 5 metres away from the main property, it does not exceed more than 50% of your total garden area and is under 4 metres in height.
You should always check that planning regulations do not apply to your proposed structure before making your purchase - objections from neighbours are often reasons for planning refusal which makes it a good idea to check with your neighbours before you begin.

Timber decks are usually exempt from planning regulations but not always.
Specifically Planning Permission is required where:
The deck is more than 300mm above the ground
If is affects the privacy or value of neighbouring properties
I If constructed in a conservation area, national park or attached to a listed building
Building Regulations usually apply to every structure that requires planning permission.
Outbuildings are considered to be permitted development, not needing planning permission, subject to the following limits and conditions:
No outbuilding on land forward of a wall forming the principal elevation.
Outbuildings and garages to be single storey with maximum eaves height of 2.5 metres and maximum overall height of four metres with a dual pitched roof or three metres for any other roof.
Maximum height of 2.5 metres in the case of a building, enclosure or container within two metres of a boundary of the curtilage of the dwelling.
No verandas, balconies or raised platforms.
No more than half the area of land around the "original house" would be covered by additions or other buildings.
In National Parks, the Broads, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and World Heritage Sites the maximum area to be covered by buildings, enclosures, containers and pools more than 20 metres from house to be limited to 10 square metres.
On designated land buildings, enclosures, containers and pools at the side of properties will require planning permission.
Within the curtilage of listed buildings any outbuilding will require planning permission.

  Delivery of your Cabin
We include free delivery with every cabin to most of mainland UK, but not to the channel islands, highlands and islands or Ireland.
We can however deliver to most ports and freight forwarders for your own collection or onward shipping.
The vehicles used are lorries equipped with a HIAB crane and is to kerbside only.
It is the customers responsibility to ensure adequate access for the delivery vehicle so please take into account width or weight restrictions and any other obstruction.
In general if your local dust cart can get through so can our lorries.
Please inform us prior to any delivery of any access problems you can foresee.
For deliveries within a 50 mile radius we offer a bespoke cabin delivery service on a smaller vehicle which helps with access and is recommended by us.
Cabins are supplied flat pack on a pallet and shrink wrapped in plastic.
You or your representative must be available to take delivery on the day and to sign for the cabin.
In the interests of safety the driver has the ultimate decision on delivery and may refuse delivery if deemed unsafe or impractical.  A charge may be made for redelivery.

Quality of Lillevilla Log Cabins
Our cabins are measured from wall-to-wall rather than to the log ears like some of our competitors.
The difference can be significant and means that you are getting the maximum cabin for your money.
When we say a cabin is a certain size, we mean it.
Storm Rods
Our storm rods are steel rods fitted inside the logs, far superior to competitors visible storm braces.
This means extra peace of mind especially in very exposed areas.
Toughened Glass
Very safe - if broken the glass does not break into dangerous shards. Especially important with small children playing in the garden.
PDPC (waterproof membrane)
This is a standard feature and protects the cabin from rising damp.
21mm Thick Floorboards
This is a standard feature in our cabins and when you walk on the floorboards you can feel the sturdiness and quality of the building.
Rubber Door & Window Seals
The cabin is free from drafts plus seals help keep the sound in or out.
A must when you have double glazed windows and doors.
All fixings included.
Fully Treated Bearers
To prevent decay to timbers.
The double tongue and groove system along with offset shoulder notch is reassuring for our customers.
Wall Thickness
The majority of our log cabins are produced with a 44mm log which is the preference of our customers.
Fully adjustable hinges on doors
This allows to counter any settlement with the building.
Insulation Kits
Vapour barrier and taped joints, which will stop condensation forming in the roof space.
